Author: Diane

Just the other day, I was at my daughter's school, waiting to pick her up. I saw a woman stroll in with a small boy, who's probably two years old. He began to play and run around like children do. But when he distanced himself a bit from the mother, I heard the mother call out to him, "John!" Now, this is where I have trouble understanding. Who still names their boy John? The name has been used redundantly and profusely over the years. I mean, there must be over a billion Johns on this planet. Every unknown corpse is a John Doe and every 80s hero in a film is John something rather. How can parents still want to choose this plain, tired name? It's not that it's bad, but it's just so common. There are so many more new born baby names to pick from. They're all over the web as we speak.

It's exciting and phenomenal to have a new baby. Especially if it's your first one. I would think people would go to pretty good lengths now days to find outstanding and original new born baby names. Heck, you might as well. All the technology to do so is right there in your home. You can hop online at any time just for fun and search for new born baby names. List after list will pop up for you to sort through. This is honestly a fun experience. It's what I did with my wife before our little girl was born. We must have looked at hundreds of new born baby names before deciding on one. You can keep a pen and pad handy so it's simple to scribble down the ones you may want to choose later. Another option is to narrow it down by heritage. Let's say you come from an Irish background like I do. You can search online for all Irish names known to man. Choose boy names or girl names and start sorting. You'd be utterly amazed at all the names you'll encounter while doing this.

Don't take the quick and easy route with some tired, used-up name. Do a little investigating before settling on Jane or Joe. There are countless new born baby names that are beautiful, and not that common. Remember, your kid is going to have to live with this name for the rest of his/her life. Make him/her proud of the one you gave them.
