One thing I can tell all of you soon-to-be parents out there is nothing can prepare you for what's coming next. Although many of us strive to get ready for parenthood, it's certainly easier said than done. If I can assure you of one thing, it's that YOUR time will no longer belong to you. At least not you alone or simply you two as a couple. Most of your devotion will go to the little one. This is only natural, and we all adapt to the routines. It goes with the territory known as parenting. And it even applies more to the women, than to the men. No, I'm not saying that dads don't help out. I'm merely pointing out the aspect of breast feeding babies. If you plan to feed your infant this way, you must get used to the countless times they eat, pretty much every three hours.

I was brought-up to believe that breast feeding babies was the most caring route for mothers. It all draws back to the companionship and trust that the mother attains with the infant while feeding him/her. A bond is established. One that supposedly cannot come from basic bottle feeding. Hmm, is there any truth to this? Well, maybe there is and maybe not. A lot probably depends on the child. My wife breast fed our daughter for an entire year. I on the other hand, resorted to the bottle when she was with me. This was also breast milk since my wife pre-made the bottles each day with a pump. I did try formula at one point, but our daughter didn't go for the switch. Naturally it's not the same as the real deal.

In the end, it's hard to beat breast feeding babies. Once you introduce them to this process, they'll likely prefer it over the bottle. At least this has been my experience with three little ones. There's a definite comfort they acquire from their mother caressing and nurturing them. The only downside to this old-school method of breast feeding babies is the lack of sleep mothers have to grapple with for nearly a year. So, if it doesn't sound like a routine for you, but you still wish to feed your child your milk, I recommend a quality breast pump. This way you can prepare the bottles each day and split the feeding ritual with the father.
